Anaerobic Pond & EPA Compliance

CHALLENGE
A meat processing facility with a poorly functioning anaerobic pond loaded with scum. EPA advised client to increase hydraulic capacity and improve water quality in order to be compliant.
RESULTS
After just 4 months, the anaerobic pond had reduced from a 300mm scum layer to just 5 to 10mm. Odour had gone and client was able to meet EPA requirements.
“…. the anaerobic pond used to have a 300mm scum layer right across the whole pond on top. This now only 5mm and not extensive. There are bubbles (gas) popping up everywhere and sludge busting up from below in 20 to 30 locations constantly. In short a lot is going on in the pond.”
